At Illuminate Montessori Broadlands, we provide an authentic Montessori education that nurtures the whole child while fostering independence, confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning. Serving children from 6 weeks through 12 years of age, our carefully prepared environments are designed to support each stage of development and empower children to learn at their own pace.
Our experienced and dedicated Montessori guides create a warm, welcoming community where children feel safe, valued, and inspired to reach their fullest potential. Through hands-on learning, meaningful exploration, and individualized instruction, students develop the academic, social, and practical life skills needed for future success.
Located in Ashburn, Virginia, our campus features expansive outdoor learning and play spaces, including a playground, track and field area, blacktop play space, a dedicated stage for performances and community events, and a large multipurpose gathering area known as The Great Room. These thoughtfully designed spaces provide opportunities for movement, collaboration, creativity, and community building throughout the school day.

Desirae Roane
Desirae Roane brings over 15 years of experience in early childhood education and educational leadership, with more than 9 years spent in the classroom and the past 6 years serving as a Director and Head of School. She also brings close to two years of experience leading within Montessori education as a Head of School, further strengthening her commitment to authentic Montessori practices and building strong, connected school communities.
Desirae holds a degree in Early Childhood Education and is deeply committed to creating environments where children feel safe, supported, and inspired to grow. She believes that early childhood is a foundational stage of development and is passionate about partnering with families to create experiences that nurture independence, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.
As a leader, Desirae is known for being present, approachable, and relationship-driven. She believes in open communication, active listening, and following through in ways that build trust and connection. Her goal is for every family and team member to feel welcomed, heard, and supported within the school community.
Above all, Desirae is committed to ensuring that every child receives a safe, healthy, nurturing, and high-quality Montessori education. She remains dedicated to honoring authentic Montessori principles while fostering a warm, joyful, and connected environment where children can thrive.
